What it is

Sermorelin, also written GRF (1-29) or GHRH(1-29), is the native N-terminal 29-residue fragment of human growth hormone releasing hormone. It is a linear, C-terminally amidated peptide with the formula C149H246N44O42S and a free-base mass of roughly 3358 g/mol (CAS 86168-78-7; acetate 114466-38-5). It is almost always supplied as a lyophilised acetate salt.

Research context

Sermorelin is characterised in the literature as a GHRH-receptor agonist and represents the unmodified parent sequence from which analogues such as modified GRF(1-29) are derived. Its defining chemical feature is methionine at position 27, which makes it the only molecule in this GHRH cluster whose formula contains sulfur, a clean identity fingerprint against its close lookalikes. AxYn lists it strictly as a reference molecule for in-vitro laboratory investigation.

Research activity data from NIH

331 studies indexed on PubMed (NIH) for Sermorelin as of August 2026. A measure of research volume only, not a claim of efficacy.

Handling and storage

Supplied as a lyophilised powder for reconstitution with bacteriostatic or sterile water as a research-handling step only. Store the sealed vial cold and protected from light. The stability watch-point unique to sermorelin is methionine-27 oxidation, so protect from light, heat and air and keep reconstituted material cold with minimal freeze-thaw.

Testing and quality

Every batch is third-party tested by HPLC and mass spectrometry, with the observed mass near 3358 g/mol and the sulfur signature used to distinguish sermorelin from modified GRF(1-29) and tesamorelin. A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) accompanies each batch. Supplied for laboratory research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.

Frequently asked questions

What is Sermorelin?
What it is
Sermorelin, also written GRF (1-29) or GHRH(1-29), is the native N-terminal 29-residue fragment of human growth hormone releasing hormone. Supplied lyophilised for laboratory research only.
What does the research say about it?
331 studies indexed on PubMed (NIH). We link the live record so you can review it. No health claims are made.
Is Sermorelin legal to buy in the UK for research purposes?
Yes. Not a licensed medicine; supplied as a research chemical for laboratory research use only, to researchers aged 18+. Not for human or veterinary use.
How do I reconstitute it?
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; the volume added sets the concentration. See our reconstitution guide. No dosing guidance is provided.
What testing has been done on this product?
Third-party tested (Janoshik): HPLC purity with chromatogram and mass-spec identity, per-batch Certificate of Analysis, QR code on the vial linking to it.
How should I store it and what should it look like?
Store cold and dark (−20 C long term); keep any reconstituted solution refrigerated. A white to off-white lyophilised powder is normal, giving a clear colourless solution once reconstituted.
