What it is
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring linear nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu (WAGGDASGE) and a molecular weight of roughly 848.8 g/mol for the free base. First isolated from rabbit brain in 1974, it is a small, acidic peptide carrying two aspartate and glutamate carboxyls plus a C-terminal glutamate, with a single N-terminal tryptophan, no cysteine and no disulfide bridge. AxYn supplies this molecule as a 5 mg research vial, commonly as the acetate salt.
Research context
DSIP is studied at the molecular and neuromodulatory level. Despite decades of investigation no specific receptor and no encoding gene have been definitively identified, and no single primary mechanism is agreed. Proposed pathways explored in preclinical work include modulation of GABAergic signalling and reported effects on endogenous antioxidant defences. It is used purely as a reference peptide for in-vitro study by qualified researchers.

Handling and storage
Supplied lyophilised. For laboratory handling the powder is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water. Store the lyophilised vial cold, around minus 20C, protected from light, since the tryptophan residue is light-sensitive. Reconstituted material is cold-chain dependent and shorter-lived.
