What it is

Selank, also coded TP-7, is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro (TKPRPGP) and a free-base molecular weight of roughly 751.9 g/mol. It is an analogue of the natural immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro cap. That proline-rich tail is a stabiliser: it protects the tuftsin core from rapid peptidase degradation. The molecule carries basic lysine and arginine residues, no cysteine and no disulfide bond. AxYn supplies it as 5 mg and 10 mg research vials, commonly as the acetate salt.

Research context

Selank is studied at the receptor and molecular level. Preclinical work describes positive modulation of GABAergic signalling, effects on BDNF expression, and modulation of the enkephalin system through inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes, alongside immunomodulatory activity inherited from its tuftsin origin.
