What it is

GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide, glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Gly-His-Lys) carrying a bound copper(II) ion, also catalogued under the INCI name Copper Tripeptide-1. The peptide holds the copper in a near-square-planar site formed by the N-terminal amine of glycine, the imidazole nitrogen of histidine and the deprotonated backbone amide nitrogen, giving a defined 1:1 peptide-to-copper complex rather than a loose salt. The free peptide has the molecular formula C14H24N6O4 (about 340.4 g/mol), while the copper complex is commonly written C14H22CuN6O4. It carries the CAS number 89030-95-5 for the complex.
