Description
What it is
Epithalon, also written Epitalon and known as the AEDG peptide, is a synthetic linear tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG) and a free-base molecular weight of roughly 390.35 g/mol. It is a short, acidic, water-soluble peptide with two carboxylic-acid side chains from its glutamate and aspartate residues, no cysteine, no disulfide bond and no metal-binding motif. It was designed as a synthetic short-peptide analogue of the pineal extract epithalamin. AxYn supplies it as a 10 mg research vial, as free base or acetate.
Research context
Epithalon is studied at the molecular level, most often in relation to telomerase (hTERT) expression in cultured human cells and to pineal and circadian signalling. The primary in-vitro telomerase work now has an independent 2025 peer-reviewed replication, though the wider evidence base remains preclinical. It is used strictly as a reference peptide for in-vitro research by qualified professionals.
56 studies indexed on PubMed (NIH) for Epithalon as of August 2026. A measure of research volume only, not a claim of efficacy.
Handling and storage
Supplied lyophilised. For laboratory handling the powder is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water. As a small, simple, water-soluble tetrapeptide it is straightforward to handle; store the lyophilised vial cold and dark, and treat reconstituted solution as short-lived and cold-chain dependent.
Testing and quality
Every batch is third-party tested. The Certificate of Analysis should state the salt form, HPLC purity with chromatogram, and mass spectrometry confirming the expected 390.35 mass, which also guards against the common spelling and identity confusion with the parent extract epithalamin. Supplied for laboratory research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.
