What it is

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, oxidised form) is a coenzyme, not a peptide. It has no amino acid sequence. It is a dinucleotide built from two nucleotides, one carrying nicotinamide and one carrying adenine, joined through a pyrophosphate bridge and two ribose sugars, with the molecular formula C21H27N7O14P2 and a molecular weight of roughly 663.4 g/mol for the free acid. AxYn supplies it as a 500 mg research vial, as the free acid or disodium salt. Its precursors NMN and NR are separate, distinct molecules.

Research context

NAD+ is studied at the biochemical and mitochondrial level as a central redox cofactor. As the NAD+/NADH couple it shuttles electrons in metabolism and serves as the required substrate for the sirtuin, PARP and CD38 enzyme families. It is used strictly as a reference material for in-vitro research by qualified professionals.

Research activity data from NIH

76307 studies indexed on PubMed (NIH) for NAD+ as of August 2026. A measure of research volume only, not a claim of efficacy.

Handling and storage

Supplied as a lyophilised powder for reconstitution with sterile water in a research context. Unlike a typical lyophilised peptide, NAD+ is hygroscopic and more sensitive to moisture, heat and pH, and can hydrolyse toward nicotinamide and ADP-ribose, so cold, dry, dark storage matters and reconstituted solution is short-lived.

Testing and quality

Every batch is third-party tested. Because it is a dinucleotide rather than a peptide, its Certificate of Analysis should show HPLC purity with chromatogram, UV and mass spectrometry identity confirming the oxidised NAD+ form, the salt form, and a water-content note. Supplied for laboratory research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.

Frequently asked questions

What is NAD+?
What it is
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, oxidised form) is a coenzyme, not a peptide. Supplied lyophilised for laboratory research only.
What does the research say about it?
76307 studies indexed on PubMed (NIH). We link the live record so you can review it. No health claims are made.
Is NAD+ legal to buy in the UK for research purposes?
Yes. Not a licensed medicine; supplied as a research chemical for laboratory research use only, to researchers aged 18+. Not for human or veterinary use.
How do I reconstitute it?
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; the volume added sets the concentration. See our reconstitution guide. No dosing guidance is provided.
What testing has been done on this product?
Third-party tested (Janoshik): HPLC purity with chromatogram and mass-spec identity, per-batch Certificate of Analysis, QR code on the vial linking to it.
How should I store it and what should it look like?
Store cold and dark (−20 C long term); keep any reconstituted solution refrigerated. A white to off-white lyophilised powder is normal, giving a clear colourless solution once reconstituted.
